VOLUNTEER SUPPORT

Volunteers are a vital part of Bethany House.  Volunteers donate an average of eight to sixteen hours weekly. They assist with office and clerical services, hotline services, outreach assistance, and help to facilitate small group activities. Other volunteers help to maintain the shelters, move clients and deliver food. Some volunteers also help in Joseph’s Coat to receive, sort, price and tag donated items. Professional volunteers donate their time to assist with pro bono legal services, medical services, and professional counseling.

Student Interns
Bethany House of Northern Virginia, Inc. offers internships for bachelor or master level students in colleges or universities for one or two semesters at Bethany House to learn how to help Domestic Violence victims and their children. Interns assist Outreach workers by providing additional professional support services in the areas of case management, pastoral counseling and purpose driven life skills training.

Pro-bono Volunteer Support
Pro-Bono Professional Volunteers provide services that clients would not otherwise be able to afford. Pro-bono volunteers donate their time to assist with pro bono legal services, medical services, advocacy, financial training, secretarial skills and counseling services.

For more information on how you can volunteer, please call the office at 703-658-9500 and speak with the Volunteer Coordinator. She will be eager to answer questions and provide more details on how you can provide invaluable support by helping domestic violence victims rebuild their lives. Groups and Individuals as well as professional and non-professional volunteers are welcome and appreciated. Volunteer training is available.  Background screening is applicable in some cases.
