INTERNSHIPS
Bethany House of Northern Virginia, Inc. offers internships for bachelor- or master-level students from accredited colleges/universities for one or two semesters. Direct service and counseling internships will help prepare students to work with domestic violence victims and their children. Business internships will allow students to develop a greater understanding of non-profit management and fundraising & development.
INTERNSHIP EXPECTATIONS
DIRECT SERVICE
Assist the Family Assistance Program workers by providing additional professional support services in the areas of case management, counseling and life skills training.
COUNSELING
Must be enrolled in Master- or Doctoral-level accredited programs in counseling, clinical social work, psychology or other mental health professions. Counseling interns provide individual and group counseling to adult and child clients residing in BHNV’s shelters.
BUSINESS
Assist the Development Team with special event planning, grant researching, building relationships with donors, raising awareness about domestic violence, coordinating volunteers, and overseeing communications and publications.
CURRENT STATUS ON INTERNSHIPS
BHNV accepts application for internships at least one semester in advance. In your cover letter, please include a brief summary of what is required by your college/university: hours (direct service and indirect service), type of supervision, etc.
